Is This You?

  • Spending beyond what you can afford
  • Regretting your purchases
  • Hiding what you bought from a loved one
  • Feeling compelled to buy things
  • Buying things when you feel sad, angry or bored
  • You’ve tried to cut back, but it hasn’t worked

The Problem

We live in a North American consumer culture specifically engineered to make us buy things. Whether it is the visual pull of physical retail stores, the convenience of tap-to-pay checkout counters, or the constant temptation of online shopping apps, the urge to spend is everywhere.

( The terms Shopping Addiction, Compulsive Buying Disorder, Shopaholic, OCD Shopping, Impulse Buying, and Oniomania are often used interchangeably.)

My Approach

I’ll get to know you, your background, history and truly understand you. Then together, we figure what is driving your behaviour.

After, we will gently explore and address the root drivers—whether that looks like adult ADHD impulses, high anxiety, or managing low mood, boredom etc.

We then make a plan that fits your values and realities and you learn CBT techniques to change habits, control your emotions and thoughts in order to stick with your plan
