I treat people for depression. Depression can be transitory, or it can last for years. It can have a biological/chemical/hormonal origin or it can arise from a difficult life event such as trauma, the death of a loved one, loss of a job, or loss of a significant relationship.
If you’re depressed, you may feel sad, hopeless or have lost interest in things you used to enjoy.
I use Talk Therapy as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Behavioural Activation and Mindfulness Practices to help people cope with depression. Together we look at what might be helpful to you. Sometimes changing something that you do or don’t do can help.

SIGNS OF DEPRESSION:
Signs and symtoms of depression vary. Below are some points from the World Health Organization (WHO)about depression.
- Depression is an illness characterized by persistent sadness and a loss of interest in activities that you normally enjoy, accompanied by an inability to carry out daily activities, for at least two weeks.
- In addition, people with depression normally have several of the following: a loss of energy; a change in appetite; sleeping more or less; anxiety; reduced concentration; indecisiveness; restlessness; feelings of worthlessness, guilt, or hopelessness; and thoughts of self-harm or suicide.
We can work on this together! I will get to know and understand you. I will be supportive and caring. And, I might challenge you to try some new things as “homework”. Sometimes when we change how we think, it can affect everything. Let’s try to decrease or shrink any negative or unhelpful thoughts that are affecting you.
