Most people would prefer not to get angry. Anger can sometimes be a response to stress, feeling overwhelmed, hurt or afraid. People might need help if their anger is present most days, is getting worse, or is affecting loved ones.
I have a flexible 6 session model to help people reduce their anger. This is a rough model and depends on individual needs.
We work together as a team. I get to know your relationships, history and significant events that impacted you or are affecting you now. I offer new ways to think about it, and assist you to change unhelpful or distressing beliefs, thinking, or actions, and empower you toward your goals.
My main method is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). It’s a short-term, effective approach. Online CBT for anger can often decrease anger after only a few sessions.
We look at what anger is, how your body reacts when angry, what your “triggers” for anger are and then work on avoiding those, or changing how you react to them. We also discuss and work on understanding and expressing your feelings so they don’t build up and potentially explode.
We work on de-stressing, self-care, tips and techniques to remain calm as well as communication skills to help you say what you want in a way that gets you what you want.
